The Truth about Weight Loss Foods and Macronutrients Revealed

The Truth about Weight Loss Foods and Macronutrients Revealed, Weight loss is highly exaggerated today in terms of what to eat and which diet to follow. Traditional diets are meant to starve the body and compel you to eat less food. The 80's saw a lot of such diets that focused on starving the body. Ironically, bodybuilding professionals used these diets to lean down and burn every last ounce of fat on their body. But, it's very difficult to keep body fat off and maintain it with such kind of diets. Yet another type of dieting plan that came into prominence later was weight loss foods, low fat foods and high fiber foods.

The truth about these diets and why they don't work is that once any food is processed it loses its nutrient density. If one gram of protein contains four calories, then after it's processed it would still contain the same four calories. But, because it was processed it has lost its nutrient density and the body would do no work in digesting it. The secret to losing weight is to get the digestive system to do work and burn calories. That's the reason why whole foods are more effective. Processed foods have very little effect on weight loss and mostly end up getting stored as fat.

Whole foods are the true weight loss foods. For losing weight, it is essential that saturated fat be totally cut off. The oil that is used to cook food should be reduced and replaced with a non-stick spray. The only fat that the body requires at this point would be the essential fats. These are omega 3, 6 and 9 respectively. Essential fat is important as it lubricates the internal organs and can help in keeping your skin healthy. When it comes to carbohydrates, simple carbohydrates should be avoided as they get digested too fast and result in being stored as fat.

A complex carbohydrate such as whole wheat grains, fibrous vegetables and fibrous fruits is what is essential when it come to weight loss. These foods can be considered as true weight loss foods. As, they are complex in nature they don't digest very fast and easy, hence, the body has to do more work to digest them. This results in more calories being burned just for digestion. Another component that one has to consider during weight loss is T.E (Thermic Energy). It's defined as the percentage amount of energy of the food used just to digest it.

Proteins are extremely high in thermic energy. They have a thermic energy of 30 per cent, that mean for 100 grams of protein, 30 grams will be used just to digest the rest 70 grams. Proteins are essential in burning fat, maintaining muscle and muscle growth. It's the most essential macronutrient. But it needs to be taken with carbohydrates in order to be absorbed by the body. Apart from the three macronutrients namely carbohydrates, proteins and fats, the body needs vitamins and mineral and a good amount of workout. An hour every day along with a diet of weight loss foods will ensure that you get the results you desired.
